What is E85?
E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% additive. The additives vary on where you live and what time of year but its mostly made of of gasoline that helps to make a complete burn. Additionally most additives help the engine start when its cold and add the color to the flame so you can see if the ethanol is burning.
We choose to convert to E85 for a host of reasons but a few key factors to take note of are:
Although there are a lot of positives and we see higher horsepower numbers utilizing E85 one must keep in mind that it is a bit more particular than gasoline and will at time make the car harder to cold start as well as consume roughly 30% more fuel than normal gasoline. But we feel that the negatives are greatly offset in track circumstances by improved performance and cooler temperatures.
